Network Mayo announce business awards nominees

Network Mayo have announced the nominees in the Business Women of the Year Awards 2012. The awards are divided into three categories (self employed, new business and employee) and the winners will be announced on Friday June 22. MIA Growing Real Opportunities for Women (GROW)

Mayo Intercultural Action has secured further funding to continue its work supporting women to set up their own businesses. Mayo people have been offered an opportunity to earn thousands of euros simply by making a couple of phone calls. Connect Ireland, an initiative designed to tap the Irish diaspora abroad for investments and the creation of work opportunities back home, has already awarded a €45,000 payout to one Castlebar man for passing on a personal business contact. This contact, who was looking to expand outside his base abroad, has since committed to creating 30 new jobs in Carlow.

Meet West Initiative to connect more than 300 west of Ireland companies

The Meet West initiative, which was launched last week, will be the largest business development event in the west in 2011. It is a collaborative effort of four local authorities, three county enterprise boards, the enterprise development agencies, and chambers of commerce in the Galway, Mayo, and Roscommon region.
